Notes

Alberta Seniors Benefit

After age 65, the primary source of income for older Albertans comes from the Government of Canada through Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement, and Canada Pension Plan.

As a supplement to these programs, the Alberta Seniors Benefit provides a monthly benefit to eligible seniors with low income to assist with living expenses.

Eligibility Requirements:

Must be 65 years of age or older

Be a Canadian citizen

Lived in Alberta for 3 months

Receiving Old Age Security

Supplementary Accommodation Benefit

Support seniors with low income who reside in a designated supportive living or long-term care facility. Eligibility for this benefit is assessed once a health care facility reports that senior is a resident and confirms their bed type.
