Building a better community
The MAC Calendar
The MAC Calendar is a social calendar connecting the residents of Fort McMurray and surrounding area with events and activities in the community.
The MAC Calendar is an easy way to find any event from sporting events to hobbies and workshops to learn new skills. Search the calendar based on dates, ages or interest. There is something fun, new and excited for everyone!
Visit the main page or select one of the sub categories which contain a more detailed list of events available in the Region.
Connecting agencies in the region for a shared cause.
Interagency meetings are held once a month to provide an opportunity for social profit agencies, government, and sport/social organizations to meet and share upcoming events and changes in their organizations. These meetings provide a great opportunity for networking and creating potential partnerships when planning projects.
Meetings are held the third Tuesday of each month at the Redpoll Centre Boardroom starting at 9:00 am. The format of the Meetings include a round table discussion in which each person has an opportunity to share their update followed by either networking or a facilitated in-service. If your organization would like to present during an in-service or if you would like more information please contact Sandy Grandison at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Streamlining processes and providing support for those in need
Through partnerships with Red Cross and with Fort McMurray United Way, the St. Aidan’s team have offered the Summer Camp Subsidy Program for 2017 and 2018. The program connected families who lost their homes or had significant damage to their homes as a result of the 2016 wildfire with a subsidy for summer camp for their children. Working closely with over 10 summer camp organizations, St. Aidan’s has helped streamline the process and provide some simplicity for those most impacted.
The Community Projects Facilitator has been instrumental in organizing and implementing various events for the community relating to the 2016 Wildfire. From the clothing drive to the Christmas Gathering and the Spring Picnic event, St. Aidan’s has stood in partnership with various stakeholders to ensure the needs of those most vulnerable have been met.
