To apply for a membership with the Métis Nation of Alberta you must first pick-up a membership application form at the McMurray Métis office An annual Elders Christmas Dinner is held at Shell Place. Contact the office mid-November to early December for registration and tickets. Monthly membership meetings are held at the Nistawoyou Friendship Centre 8310 Manning Avenue. |

Meals are supplied by Karen’s Katering
Meals on Wheels is available to all Seniors in Fort McMurray. Meals chosen will follow the guidelines of the Canada Food Guide, and are prepared by the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre following a 2-week menu rotation. Special dietary requests are available for those who are on a restricted diet. Meals are $10 and include a drink. Sandwiches are available for an extra $4 per sandwich. Stella is the first point of contact for Mikisew Cree Elders in the Fort Chipewyan community. She is responsible for advocating on behalf of the Elders’ individual and collective needs. Needs that are provided include housing, financial, maintenance, and providing assistance in attaining a home care worker. |

The MS Society offers referrals to a variety of programs to help people affected by multiple sclerosis effectively manage and cope with the disease. Special events offered in Fort McMurray to raise awareness about MS include: MS Walk Kick off night, MS Walk – takes place annually in May, and Burgers to beat MS. If you have been diagnosed with MS or are a caregiver for someone with MS contact MS Society for any support services or to register with the MS Society of Canada. Nistawoyou Friendship Centre offers a broad selection of programs and services for all age groups that build upon traditional Aboriginal values and culture. Elder dinner and bingos occur on the last Thursday of every month. |
Education
Prevention Condoms (Male, Insertive, Flavoured), dental dams, and lube are available at the office during regular business hours, or from the Outreach team during afternoon outreach in the downtown core.
Harm Reduction Office: Needles, steri-cups, sterile water, citric, ties, filters, alcohol swabs and sharps containers are available during regular business hours. Outreach: The outreach teams carry the above items on weekday afternoon outreach to the downtown core. Needle Disposal Bins: Salvation Army Community Centre (Side of the building), Bottle Depot (Near loading dock), Centre of Hope (Behind the building), McMurray Gospel Assembly (On the wall by Manning Ave and Main St.)
Outreach Our Outreach team distributes safer sex and harm reduction supplies every weekday in the afternoon. You can connect with them on the street or while they are visiting the Centre of Hope, the Salvation Army and other service angencies. Service Providers: Outreach workers are available to meet with clients at your agency or at the hospital. We come to you!
Naloxone Self referred program available to any member of the public. Teaching will be provided on administration of naloxone, follow up care, safe drug use to help prevent overdose, signs and symptoms of an opioid overdose. Training can be provided on an individual basis or in a group setting for businesses or community organization. Take home naloxone kits will be provided free of charge.

If you have a loved one or friend in the hospital and would like to know visiting times it is recommended you call registration and request to be connected with the appropriate unit that they are located in. That unit will tell you their visiting hours as it varies between the different units. Wash hands upon arrival and when leaving the hospital. Call 911 if you are experiencing a medical emergency. |
