Plans are currently being made to repair/clean the Boys & Girls Club with the goal of resuming programming early July.


Fort McMurray Genealogy Society

Currently housed in the Unifor Building, the air system needs to be cleaned so the office will reopen when it is deemed safe.


Fuse Social

Office is minimally open with full staff contingent returning July 4th.

Fuse Social will be facilitating the Volunteer Management of the Recovery. Volunteers can register at www.woodbuffalovolunteers.ca and any Organization seeking volunteers can also register online. The matching component will assist in connecting volunteers with opportunities.


Girls Inc of Northern Alberta

Girls Inc will be holding their summer camps for girls ages 8-13. Camps will be daily from 9:00 am-4:00 p.m. Cost is $120/week and registration is currently open and can be completed by visiting their webite at http://girlsincofnorthernalberta.org/girls-inc-summer-day-camp/. Justin Slade Youth Foundation

Current plans are to have the drop in centre available to the youth the 3rd week of June. Summer programming will still go forward, including the Summer Launch Party, Our Skate Jam, Graffiti Art Program, Life Skills series, and more. Details and dates for these programs will be forthcoming.

Royal Canadian Legion

The Royal Canadian Legion building will need to be assessed for damages and any repairs and clean up will be completed immediately. Once complete the Legion will be opened and families will be welcome to attend. Legion members will be busy volunteering in the community and assisting where needed.

There will be a Family Fun Day on June 4th in Edmonton.

Re-Opens on June 11, 2016. New temporary hours will be 10:00 am-7:00 pm daily until June 24, 2016. After June 24 hours will be 10:00 am-7:00 pm until September 1, 2016. Line up at the green intake tent in the parking lot. Complete short intake form, bring you Red Cross Number and receive your weekly hamper.

Fort McMurray Giants League

Currently the Giants will be playing at the Prospects Field in Edmonton and will return to their home field in Fort McMurray when it is safe to do so. They currently have a new schedule that they will using until for the 2016 season or until they can return to Fort McMurray.

People who have purchased tickets can have them replaced with tickets to the games in Edmonton.


Fort McMurray Youth Soccer Association

The Soccer Association Office will open on June 30th and plans for drop in soccer throughout the summer are being planned. Details on how this will be rolled out will follow. For information check the FMYSA Facebook page. Messages can be left after June 30 on this page.

MacDonald Island Park

Miskanaw Golf Course will re-open on June 8th.and will be open from 7:00 a.m-10:00 p.m.daily.

Suncor Community Leisure Centre-including Syncrude Aquatic Centre and TOTAL Fitness Centre-will reopen on June 13th from 10:00 a.m-9:00 p.m.

Shell Place will be open 10:00 a.m-9:00 p.m.

Due to the generosity of RMWB and Government of Alberta the first two weeks will be FREE admission. Green fees and driving range will be free from June 8-21 and SCLC will be free from June 13-26.

Information on Summer Camps will be forthcoming.


Re/Max-BP Slo Pitch League

Plans are being made to start the 2nd half of the season in July. A schedule will be drawn up once it is determined what teams are able and willing to field a team.


Wood Buffalo Trail Running

The Birchwood Bender will go ahead on July 23rd and the Fell Cross Run scheduled for October 1st will also go ahead.
