Luana Bussieres, Executive Director

Luana Bussieres

Born and raised in Fort McMurray, Luana is a fierce defender of Fort McMurray and all it has to offer.  Luana has spent her whole life in McMurray except for the 4 years she went away to University to obtain her Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Luana has worked in the human services field for over 25 years holding positions as Child Welfare Investigator, Probation Officer, Foster Care Worker, Child Care Worker and currently Executive Director.  More than half of Luana’s professional career has been with St. Aidan’s Society; an agency Luana has respected since working as a child care counsellor at the beginning of her career.  Luana is very passionate about seniors advocacy and was deeply dedicated to shifting the focus of agency service delivery to this area.

Luana volunteers her time in various capacities such as her boys hockey teams or school parent associations but is most likely known for her commitment to the adult slo-pitch community where she has served as President of the Re/Max-BP Slo-Pitch League for the past 13 years. Devoted to the non-profit community, Luana and Sandy have used the support and strength of the adult slo-pitch community to raise funds for numerous groups and individuals over the years.

Sandy Grandison, Community Projects Facilitator

Sandy Grandison

Sandy completed a Family Studies degree in Edmonton Albert before moving to Fort McMurray in 1989. She has worked in the human services field at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre as a Child Development Educator, at the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo as an FCSS Coordinator and for St. Aidan’s as a Foster Care Coordinator. In 2014, with the St. Aidan’s Board Support Sandy developed and launched the McMurray All Connected (MAC) Community Calendar.

Sandy enjoys an active lifestyle and can usually be found at a ball park during her off time; watching her two sons play, playing slo-pitch herself, or working one of the Tournaments. Sandy is community minded and enjoys volunteering her time to support the social profits groups throughout the city.

Pam Burns, Senior Advocate

Pam Burns

Pam was born and raised in Regina, Sk. where she attended the University of Regina and obtained a Bachelor of Social Work Degree.  She moved to Fort McMurray in 1996 to begin her Social Work career with Child and Family Services doing Child Welfare Investigations and Case Management.  For a short time, Pam returned to Saskatchewan to work as a Behavior Management Consultant, and then returned to Fort McMurray to work in Children’s Mental Health.  After working for approximately 10 years in Foster Care with St. Aidan’s Society, Pam took a break from Social Work and worked as an Event Coordinator, before returning to St. Aidan’s to work in her current role as a Seniors Advocate.  Pam is community minded and volunteers in various capacities, including her membership with HALOS, which is a local third party fundraising group.  Pam has a passion for healthy and active living for herself and her family.  Pam is incredibly excited for this new challenge of leading the Coordinated Community Response Plan for Elder Abuse.

Heather Landeen, Senior Advocate

Heather Landeen

Heather was born and raised in Oakville Ontario, where she most recently finished her Social Service Worker diploma program at Sheridan College, with a specialization in Gerontology.  She graduated at the top of her class with high honours.  During Heather’s time at Sheridan College, she was able to participate in a placement program at an Assisted Living Residence as a recreation and support worker.

In May 2014, Heather moved back to Fort McMurray to begin her new journey with St. Aidan’s Society first as a Foster Care Coordinator and currently as a Seniors Advocate.  Heather is extremely passionate about Seniors and looks forward to a long career working for and with them.

During Heather’s time off, she enjoys playing slo-pitch, visiting her friends and family throughout Canada; while making it to at least two Toronto Blue Jays games per year, and most importantly taking care of her cat Leo.
